Psychotherapy Intensives

  • intensive sessions are 90 minutes long

  • these sessions are completely curated to your needs

  • preparation for sessions is also curated

somatic psychotherapy intensives

Sometimes regular-format therapy isn’t a good match because of scheduling or other reasons. Week to week therapy helps create rhythm & consistency, while extended sessions offer the opportunity to move more deeply into a process without interruption. I offer both.

Intensives are highly curated…they are not simply longer sessions. I currently offer intensives for somatic psychotherapy. These sessions can be combined with regularly scheduled psychotherapy or constructed to be stand-alone or a stand-alone series.

Intensives are neurodivergent friendly & trauma- informed!

example session formats:

for example: for someone struggling with anxiety & panic attacks we might…

  • assess your orienting response to understand the hyper-arousal

  • work with your vision & eye orienting patterns to build a new tool for regulation out of session

for example: for someone who is in chronic people-pleasing & toxic relationships…

  • work with boundary

  • assess yes/no in your body

  • work with your developmental movement (yield, push, reach, grasp, pull) to shift relational patterns via the body

for example: for someone who is suffering with sleep issues…

  • assess somatic holding patterns

  • practicing progressive muscle relaxation

  • work with weighted & containment tools

what can somatic psychotherapy intensives help with?

patterns of burnout

PSYCHOTHERAPY INTENSIVE FORMAT OPTIONS

  • monthly intensive

We meet for 90-minute sessions spaced once/month.

I recommend 6-12 months for greatest impact.

  • 4 weeks of focus

We meet for a 90-minute session once/week for 4 weeks in a row as scheduling allows.

  • multi-day focus

We meet for 3-4 days in a one week period. In this format not ALL sessions need to be 90 minutes.

  • intensive as add-on

We meet for 90-minute sessions in addition to weekly or biweekly sessions psychotherapy or consultation.

somatic psychotherapyintensives may be a good fit if…

  • you are slow to warm up & longer sessions sound like they would help you relax

  • you benefit when someone else holds the “container” for you to focus

  • you are an experiential learner, you learn by doing

  • you have challenges with pacing your energy expenditure

  • time is a source of stress for you

  • you’re more likely to continue well-being practices if you can practice with someone or a group first

  • regular weekly sessions are a scheduling challenge &/or you can’t “drop in” due to other life obligations you know are coming after your session

  • you have difficulty making progress in weekly therapy because the time is too short &/or you lose track from week to week of what you’re working on

 Questions & Answers

  • Working on interoception, identifying/naming emotions, building congruence in thought, body language, & greater self-awareness have ALL been shown (yes, there are studies) to contribute to overall well-being, better decision making & emotional regulation.

All of these improvements in turn support better relationships & life satisfaction.

  • Yes, embodiment work can be a great compliment to your other therapies.

It will be good to let your therapist know that you are working with me.

  • I will provide an outline based on what we’ve decided to focus on.

You’ll wear comfortable clothes such as you would for a yoga class, so you can breathe & move with ease.

For those who like to do some homework, I can give you some practices to work on before or between sessions.

If that’s not for you, no problem.

  • Yes, we can take a break at any time.
